The Backcountry Solutions Experience
Most importantly, we offer powder skiing.
We are a safety-first based Ski Guiding company, that backs this up with riding the funnest terrain possible as the conditions allow. Backcountry Solutions Ski Guides are trained and professionally certified through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides.
Our assessment process is based on patience and monitoring snowpack changes on a continual basis. Using this strategy and approach, we can choose our terrain with confidence.
The style of our guiding is along that of modern day backcountry ski guiding, adjusting to the needs of our guests, along with sharing our decision making process.
We offer private group Lodge based, fully guided and catered trips.
Golden, British Columbia is the most ideally located mountain town in proximity to Lodge based, multi or single day trips into the Purcell, Selkirk and Rocky Mountains of Canada.
Lodge Based Touring
The majority of our winter is spent skiing out of the finest remote helicopter accessed Backcountry Lodges available. There is no other place in the world where you will find this style of backcountry skiing experience other than British Columbia. The lodges we choose are remote – it’s just us as a group of backcountry friends.
We choose the Lodges we ski out of for the diversity of terrain in all conditions. They have the best tree skiing for the stormy days, complete with glades and pillow lines, and exciting alpine terrain for when the conditions allow. Location is also key depending on the time of the season; elevation, aspect, latitude and longitude all play into the strategy.

Town Based
Golden British Columbia is ideally located to arguably the best backcountry skiing there is.
The legendary Rogers Pass in the Selkirks, Purcell Mountains, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort lift accessed backcountry, and the Rocky Mountains is our zone. It makes us laugh out loud how lucky we are to live, work, and play here.
The resort accessed Backcountry Skiing off of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is second to none. Superior tree skiing for the stormy days, treeline glades, alpine chutes and pillow lines are your choices. And don’t forget a world class alpine ski resort.
We offer town based Ski Guiding throughout this vast zone. Multi day town based or single day guided skiing is available. There are many different choices and styles of accommodation in Golden, as well as dining experiences.
International Trips
Backcountry skiing in the exotic snow countries of the world is an adventure to remember.
The Japanese Alps is a favorite destination.
Other possible trip locations include Greenland, Iceland, Norway and select locations in the European Alps.
These trips are reserved for small groups that we have skied with before.
